I first heard about Calmbirth approximately 7 years ago. I was 3 years into what would become a 10-year long IVF journey.
It was at a pregnancy and baby expo where we were lucky enough to encounter Calmbirth founder Peter Jackson and his daughter Karen.
I was immediately struck by his earnest enthusiasm for the programme and his genuine desire to help as many women as possible. His years of experience in both the midwifery and mental health fields had made it clear to him how important the labouring woman’s state-of-mind and sense of safety were for an empowering birth experience.
I felt an immediate connection to his vision.
I knew that this was something I wanted for my own labour, should I be fortunate enough to get that far. Well, fast forward 7 years, and I finally got a chance to do the course here in Tasmania with Cherie.
Cherie was an excellent Calmbirth Educator. She was extremely welcoming and personable and created a warm and relaxed environment for the classes that put you at ease immediately.
The information was well presented, engaging, balanced and accessible. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and clarify things.
Even though I attended the classes as a single woman, with my mother as the support person, Cherie made us both feel very welcome and made sure to deliver the content in a way that was applicable to both myself and my mother and the other couples equally.
I highly recommend this course to all expectant parents.
Regards Zoe.
Thank you for sharing your amazing journey so far.
I have loved getting to know Zoe through the Calmbirth Class, the Pregnancy Support Groups & the Morning Teas. She is a true inspiration!
