We recently attended the Calmbirth class with Cherie Chugg,
and we found it to be an incredibly comprehensive and
empowering experience. Cherie, an experienced doula, brings a wealth of knowledge and genuine passion to her teaching, which really shines through in the course.
The class covers all the important information you need to
understand about birth. Cherie explains the stages of labour in
detail, helping you know what to expect physically and
emotionally. She teaches powerful breathing and relaxation
techniques that are easy to learn and very effective.
One of the highlights was learning about the role of hormones during labour and how they naturally support the birth process.
Another valuable part of the class is how Cherie guides you
through navigating the hospital system and understanding
common interventions, which helps reduce fear and uncertainty.
She encourages flexibility in birth plans, emphasising the
importance of being informed but also adaptable.
The course doesn’t stop at birth – it also prepares you for the postpartum period and offers support options after the baby arrives.
The class also places strong emphasis on the role of birth
partners, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to
provide meaningful support during labour. This aspect helped
deepen the connection and teamwork between partners.
The knowledge gained from the course empowered us to make
informed choices during labour and feel confident even if things
didn’t go exactly as planned.
Cherie’s ongoing support through group meet-ups and postpartum connections was an added bonus, helping build a supportive community.
